TLDR: an egg soufflé worth the visit alone with great high quality bbq Food: - Egg soufflé: hands down my favorite item when I visit and by far the best egg soufflé I've had. So flavorful yet balanced too just order it - House Double Cut Galbi: tender, juicy, and you get a lot of great smoky flavor from the charcoal. This isn't as sweet as galbi you might get from other places but I like it this way, it really emphasizes the quality and cook of the meat - Beef tongue: another great option for bbq - tender, fatty - Ssam: must get if you order bbq - Galbi Mandu: I'd skip on this. I really like the edges but the filling wasn't that different from most other Galbi mandu - Grilled Tteok: a pleasant surprise I really enjoyed the smoky flavor paired with the maple soy sauce - Haepari Muchim: a really refreshing appetizer to pair with the bbq. My brother thought there could have been more jellyfish since he was expecting something a little closer to the Chinese jellyfish dish - Sweet corn: if you like corn and butter, this won't miss. I also like how they serve it (see photos) since it makes a lot cleaner of an eating experience After visiting San Ho Wan a couple of times, my conclusion is it's definitely worth visiting at least once since you can't really find this BBQ quality anywhere else in SF. Most dishes will be good and you might find one or two that you remember the next week. However despite all this, it's not my first or second restaurant I would recommend friends. This is due to getting a reservation is really hard unless you want to eat at 9PM. I've had more look going right at 4:50 (before opening) or at 5 (opening). The service of the meal is good and I love the inside decor where it's more reminiscent of a normal Korean restaurant vs fine dining

We dined here during the weekend. Street parking is sparse, so plan accordingly. One of the few michelin star restaurants that allows kids. They offer two types of dining experiences. The house menu is more like a prix fixe menu but with choices for the entrée and the soup section. We opted for the à la carte menu instead. They served a complimentary amuse-bouche, which was a cold egg tofu/pudding. It was simple but a nice start to the dining experience. We ordered: - Galbi Mandu (good - taste good but a bit too oily) - Sweet Corn with Honey Butter and Chili (very good - grilled to perfection, sweet, buttery, and crunchy. The charcoal enhanced the flavor significantly.) - Beef Tartare with Asian Pear (ok - we just had really good beef tartare @ Damso and this one is decent) - House Double-Cut Galbi (very good - thick but very juicy, melt in your mouth and smoky. Must order!) - Prime Beef Rib Cap (very good - tender, and smoky.) - Center Cut Beef Tongue (very good - thick but very tender and smoky. The charcoal aroma and flavor really came through in the meat. Must order!) - Ssam wraps (lettuce and other veggies, which were cold, crisp, and went really well with the BBQ meat) - - a scallion salad(good to complement the meat) - 6-Year Doenjang and Clam Jjigae (Very umami, with a pleasant taste that was not too overbearing or salty.) - sesame ice cream with mulberry (a very good palate cleanser after a heavy meal, nice and not too sweet) - cream puff(not a fan - it had an odd acorn aftertaste that we did not like) Overall, it was an amazing experience and truly one of the best Korean restaurants in San Francisco.

San Ho Won has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants, and having experienced it both before and after it received its Michelin star, I can confidently say it never disappoints. The highlight of the menu for me is the double cut galbi. This dish is incredibly tender and flavorful, truly out of this world. Another standout is the tteokbokki, which was so delicious we ordered extra rounds. The desserts at San Ho Won are equally impressive. Going with a group allowed us to try a variety of desserts, each one better than the last. The entire meal was a culinary adventure, well worth the inevitable food coma. San Ho Won consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience, making it a must-visit spot in the city.

THE BEST! I've been eyeing this place for a while and finally got a regular dinner time res. Pro tip: go for reservations of 4 instead of 2. I loved every single dish but my favorites are the beef tongue and the galbi. The beef tongue is so tender, goes well with every single sauce or just itself. The galbi comes with flavors and has a perfect balance of fat and meet. I would probably recommend the pork rib less cuz it's not that special and you can probably get similar quality pork rib at other restaurants at the same price. We ended up spending $110 per person post tax and tip, which is lower than the set menu. Although it's a Michelin 1 star, the environment feels very casual and modern.

SOOO good! I love Korean food in general but this place I need to give 5 stars. The flavors are so well balanced. I loved the fresh vegetables. The service was amazing. They checked if I had hot tea every 20 min lol. I enjoyed every moment. I went as a single diner so I got to sit near the kitchen where they are making the bbq meats. It was a fun experience to watch them cook and interact with customers. I'm glad I went here and the food did not disappoint!! I could tell a lot of people there were repeat customers. They already knew what to order.

Lovely birthday experience .. Service was top notch and the staff seems very passionate about this place and are experts at recommending what goes well with what! The ambiance gives off bougie "bunker-sauna" vibes in a sleek modern wood environment And most importantly - the food was great; the sides were delicate yet flavorful and can be complementarily replenished upon request! The true star were the bbq meats. Try them all. Enjoy

I was able to get a reservation for the day I wanted but I have to say that it was challenging to get a reservation on an ideal dinner time. I came with a party of 4, and we opted for the a la carte menu so that we could try all the dishes we were interested in. Our favorites were the egg souffle, mackerel fillet, center-cut tongue, and jebi churi. The egg souffle was very unique, light, and airy and served in a spicy anchovy broth. The jebi churi was sooo tender! It was lean but yet tender. The double-cut galbi is THICK! The fatty portion of the galbi makes it melt in your mouth. Service: 10/10. The servers were constantly refilling our tea, and changing our plates and napkins. Dishes I would skip: Dalrae Pajeon (shrimp pancake, very tiny portion, and nothing stood out from the dish), Sweet Corn (nothing special, just tasted like corn on the cob with butter), Mugunji Kimchi Jjigae (Very tangy, not my preferred type of kimchi stew). Interior: simple, clean, very minimalistic design. Parking: street parking only.

Came to celebrate a birthday and it did not disappoint. Service was excellent and had good recommendations. We weren't afraid to veer off the fixed menu and order some things a la carte. The bulgogi is probably the best I've ever had. The sides and sauces were all excellent. The ribs were a bit too fatty for my liking but others seemed to like it. The mushrooms with garlic butter were not impressive but we took them home to use in our breakfast scramble later which turned out great. The acorn puff to close out the meal was also surprisingly good and unique. Highly recommend for special occasions!
